Body Positivity & Positively Inspiring Friends

You know that feeling you get when something so incredible happens for your friend? Like 100% genuine joy bubbling up anytime you talk to them because WOW you are beyond happy for them and proud of them?

If you don’t know this feeling, I’m sorry. It’s one of the very best. The people in my life who accomplish fantastic things push me to be a better person daily. I highly recommend surrounding yourself with people who are focusing on the positive and making great things happen.

Like my friend Tiffany Reese of

Last summer she began a health and fitness journey that has been inspiring to watch unfold.

She’s down 80 lbs so far, and the confidence that has come with that is a beautiful thing. Literally beautiful. Not that Tiffany has ever lacked confidence as far as I could tell, but this is just… wow.

I wanted to celebrate her, celebrate WITH her, so at Mom 2.0 a few weeks ago, we took a morning to get these shots (and a ton more not really suited for public consumption) in my hotel room.

Remember how I was on that big gym kick? That was completely inspired by Tiffany’s dedication. This girl goes to the gym nearly every day with 3 kids younger than mine! I complain about how hard it is to lose 10 lbs, and she’s done that 8 times.

BTW, I stopped going to the gym when I found out I was pregnant because it’s hard to get on the elliptical and nap at the same time, BUT I’m going back soon, and often. I’m still hella inspired. I just need to get past this sea sickness phase.

Tiffany was stoked to share her before and after (really more like in progress) pictures. You guys, this is just… wow.

“I started my weight loss journey Independence Day of 2015, which is ironic because I really feel like it has been such a freeing feeling to take charge of my health. I have yo-yo dieted my entire life and never in a healthy way. People ask me all the time what my secret is, when really the only secret I have is watching what I eat and exercising as much as possible. I like pushing myself and seeing what my body can do. I like surprising people with what my body can do. I like to challenge myself every day. As a mother of three I realize now how responsible I am to lead by example when it comes to positive and healthy body image. My husband has now joined me and also lost 50 pound. We are working as a family toward a healthier and more active lifestyle every day.” – Tiffany Reese

IMG_9459This week was Body Positivity week over on Buzzfeed, where our friend Morgan Shanahan works. Tiffany and Morgan worked together on a video about how to dress your body without worrying about what size clothes you are. I loved watching Tiffany’s confidence shine through as she helped other women celebrate their bodies.

I shared all this with you today because:

1. Those pics, OMG. I’m quite proud of them, but I literally didn’t do any of the hard work. There was no photoshopping going on. She’s just that dang gorgeous.

2. We should all celebrate our bodies no matter where we are in life, and I hope this gives you a boost of confidence to do so.

  1. Lovely post!!! I did boudoir pics back in November. I thought they were for my husband, but I really figured out they were for me because it was such an amazing feeling to see myself and love what I saw!

  2. She is so beautiful and you can see how much she loves herself in the photos. I love it! I love the body positivity movement and how when you ask someone who’s lost a significant amount of weight what their secret is, they typically respond with watching what you eat and exercise. It really is about taking care of you! This brings back memories of my weight loss. 🙂
