Did you hear about the destruction of Texas? Or at least that giant hail storm- like literally GIANT HAIL the size of softballs. I heard it made national news.
Well, this is what it looked like as it approached us.
I did a little bit of editing on these in Lightroom, but really only to increase their clarity and contrast. The colors in the sky and the lighting on the houses is exactly how it looked on the other side of the camera. The sun was shining behind me, and it looked like a beautiful spring day. It lit up the houses on the other side of the street while the storm passed over them. Craziest, most beautiful sight. That blue-green stripe in the middle was unlike anything I’ve ever seen.
This is the storm as it passed over out backyard. Those clouds were hauling ass.
The skies opened about 60 seconds after I took this. I was safely inside by then… and this happened.
Ummmmm…. that’s not our trampoline. That’s our neighbors to the right. That IS our playhouse, though. Poor playhouse.
The kids were pretty sad for the playhouse and trampolines (the neighbors and ours- though ours certainly didn’t get hit as bad).

It was pretty scary, but we are super lucky that the worst of it for us was a destroyed playhouse, trampoline, shed, and a busted garage window (and we’re definitely getting a new roof). A lot of our neighbors just a few miles up the road got hit with hail so big it blew out windows in their cars, houses, and even went straight through their roofs.

Also, our internet was out for 24 hours, but we somehow survived that AND the destruction of Texas.

Looks like the apocalypse. The destruction I’ve seen from my Wylie friends is beyond anything I ever thought was possible in a hail storm.
We’re a little further West so we missed this go around, but I got a lot of news (and college campus) alerts for it, looked quite terrifying.
Glad everybody/everything’s (mostly) ok though!
We had an estimate done for our roof from the hail over the holidays (were out of the country so didn’t even know it had happened/damaged, luckily no leaks) but now we’ve had like 3-4 storms with high winds and light hail since, lol. Estimate out the window, just come back after May and check again, haha /Texas.
