Wow, you guys. This week. Ooph.
So Scott was traveling, and I know- I KNOW- that I can never ever count on weeks he’s gone as productive ones, but I just wanted to get ONE project done. Just one. Just this one.
I shot this on Tuesday. Shortly after, Lowell caught a stomach virus, and it was all downhill from there. No sleep. Mess everywhere. I couldn’t keep up. (I shared this behind-the-scenes video on my FB BEFORE everything got crazy. Yes, it got so much worse.)
Listen, I know Valentine’s Day is TOMORROW. And I doubt anyone is going to see this today and think, “Oh! I’m going to make that happen in the next 24 hours!” At this point, I’m publishing this and sharing because DAMMIT I worked hard on it.
Pin it for next year?
I mean, if you do have the stuff or you’re going to the store anyway, it really is VERY easy, which is why I shared it. And Kendall did enjoy it for “fake Valentine’s Day” last week.
Excuse his dirty little marker covered hands. We were busy living life over here when I shot this. And yes, that is Sharpie scribbled on my table.
The sugar cookies are a recycled idea I blogged a few years ago, so there’s more details there. My favorite sugar cookie recipe is Alton Brown’s for the Food Network.
For the frosting, I used 1 stick of softened butter, 1 package of whipped cream cheese (12 oz), 3 cups powdered sugar, and about 1/2 cup of strawberry pulp. It makes for more of a runny frosting, so if you’d like yours thicker, cut back on the strawberry pulp.
And I LOVE this strawberry milk with the heart-shaped ice cubes. You can get a similar heart mold on Amazon here.
Finally, I got me a Balloon Time tank and some red balloons. Because you know what adds a little bit of joy to anything? A balloon. Or three.
So I’m definitely busting that out tomorrow, and we’ll make some more strawberry milk, and there will be conversation hearts and cookies, and we’ll call it a day. A Valentine’s Day. Simple & sweet. (And thank God Scott is home to celebrate with us… and help me clean up the mess.)
