When I was 16, I was selected to go to a weekend-long Rotary Youth leadership camp in San Antonio. I remember meeting one of my bunk mates clear as day. She had gorgeous curly hair, a beautiful smile, and I feel like maybe I borrowed her deodorant? That part’s not so clear, but I do know she was lovely and nice.
The following summer, as I walked into Summer Theater Workshop at the University of Texas for a 6 week long camp, the same girl was there! It’s because of that camp that we were connected again, a few years ago, via a Facebook group set up for our camp group.
It’s so crazy to see where friends of your youth wind up, right? She was working in NYC for Glamour! Gorgeous and in love. I got to see her wedding pictures, and then her pregnancy announcement. I just love me some social media, y’all.
Now we’ve found something new in common- motherhood. Instead of swapping deodorant, we’re sharing virtual fist bumps and glasses of wine over life with toddlers.
Okay, all that is the long story and lead up to this, but so cool, right?
Now she’s working for MYHABIT and she recently asked to profile me for their blog theFix, and have me put together a simple DIY for them.

YAY Rotary! Congrats for being selected for RYLA. I didn’t know about Rotary until my adult life but now I love it : ) I also love that the connection you made there is still going strong! Thank you for mentioning us in your post.
