On October 8th, it will be 6 years since the day Scott and I got married.
Our wedding was something you’d see in a magazine. Literally. It was in magazines and on wedding blogs.
(I confess, I was a bit of a psycho bride-to-be when it came to the planning… just a touch. BUT IT PAID OFF! And my wedding went “perfect” if I just block out a few key memories. Denial is beautiful.)
But it’s never been printed in an album for us to keep in our home, one that we can carefully thumb through and show the kids. To no fault of our photographers, it was merely something we didn’t have the budget for at first, then a project that I kept putting off year after year, always meaning to print a wedding album before the next anniversary.
Be sure, it was on my list of things to do in the next couple of weeks. Be sure, it most likely would not get done anyway.
Our photographers found their way into our lives via some wonderful word-of-mouth references and a long-distance call (me in Virginia, Tyler in Austin). Our senses of humor clicked off the bat, and I was glad to have chosen someone who gelled with our personalities so well, especially when I heard how much fun he had with our bridal party after we left.
Tyler Schmitt and his wife Olivia (of The Mill Photography in Austin) have stayed in touch with me over the years, and today I got a package in the mail from them that made me burst into a smile and tear up. I breathed a grateful sigh of relief as I flipped it’s substantial pages.
I love yer guts too, guys.
It’s so awesome to look back on that day and know it not only brought Scott and I closer together, but it also brought wonderful people into our lives.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Now excuse me while I make Kendall look through it before bedtime.
…. And I’m back. Showed it to him and he almost started crying, “That’s NOT our daddy!” Poor kid. He’s never seen his father without a beard.

Score! What an awesome surprise to find in the mail! You guys are gorgeous–no wonder you’ve made such pretty babies since that day at Star Hill (way back in my wedding planner days, my FAVE venue). I need to get on that wedding album thing myself one of these days!
I didn’t know you were in the wedding planning biz! We fell head over heels in love with Star Hill Ranch and it holds such a special place in our hearts. Yes, you should totally get on that wedding album thing. I guess the cobbler’s kids really don’t have any shoes 😉
so awesome! What a special treat for you! You look beautiful.
Love it! I remember your pictures from back in TB days! I love seeing glimpses here and there!
Love this. I don’t take my wedding album out nearly as much as I should. I’m going to do that tonight.
You know, we have a full wedding video, too, and I think I’ve only watched it once. I’m going to make Scott watch it with me on our anniversary this year.
You had a donkey at your wedding!? How awesome!
We did! We had 2, and they carried baskets of beer on their backs at the cocktail reception. They were adorable.
Beautiful! I don’t think we got our actual album until 2 or 3 years later. It was my fault as I just didn’t know how to pick through the hundreds of beautiful photos that they took. Now the question is since moving – where is it??? Uh oh.
we have no album either. November will be 8 years! eek!
We celebrated 6 years this year too! 🙂
Wow – we were married on the same day…literally! My husband and I are celebrating our 6 years this October 8 as well. Happy early anniversary! : )
