It’s Art! For the Tots! A ModTots Giveaway!

Hard to have a case of the Mondays when I get to post this lovely giveaway for you all from my Β friends at ModTots. If their work seems familiar to you, it’s because ModTots is the newest branch of Modern Bird Studios, offering the hippest, happiest, coolest ART for the younger crowd. This ain’t your granny’s cross stitch, folks.

These two robots now grace the wall next to Kendall’s bedroom door, overlooking his planet mural and his rocket ship tent. I love his room. It’s perfect for a little boy’s imagination, and now he gets two robot friends to talk to. Last night I had to tell them goodnight and turn them off. “BeBoop,” I said as I pushed each one’s imaginary button.

There are three lines of ModTots art so far; Animals, Robots and Monsters. Dinosaurs are also coming soon. They start at 6×6″ (that’s the size our robots are), and you can choose from about 20 colors to customize the background.

Each ModTots design starts as an original illustration by artist, Gregg Deal, and is created with a combination of digital, hand, and painting processes on an Oak composite. Β Each piece is handmade, one at a time, with love and consideration going into every one.

Another fun thing to note is the first person to buy each animal, robot, monster, etc. gets naming rights and the fun of coming up with a few sentences to describe them. If you have a blog, they’ll even link back to you on the description page (like the fox my friend BethAnne got to name). How cool is that?

ModTots just launched at the beginning of 2011, and already they’ve been featured on Babble and ohdeedoh. These pieces will be popping up in all the coolest kid’s rooms, playrooms and nurseries before you know it, and you can be one of the first to bring them into your home (what a trendsetter you will be). The winner of this giveaway gets $100 credit for any ModTots piece(s)!

How to enter:

Tell me which piece is your favorite and why. Do you have a personal, deep connection with raccoons? Do you lovingly refer to your toddler as a monster?

  1. We’ve been calling our daughter Monster since she was 6 months old…and she’s been answering to it for just as long. Fun party trick…since she was about a year old, whenever we ask “Who’s the Monster?” She raises her and and yells “ME ME Rylee!” So, yea, we’d totes go for a Monster!!

  2. I have been looking at their site daily drooling over the monsters. JD’s room is all about monsters, and he would LOVE one of his own πŸ™‚

  3. robots! Definitely robots, Z has a space themed room as well, and is totally into robots, he even does a robot “voice” and robot “dance” he’s a crack up, that would be a perfect addition to his room :).

  4. kk @ the mom diggity on

I’m pregnant with our second and I fell in love with mod tots! I’m hoping to decorate a nursery with either monsters or robots…if it’s a boy of course πŸ˜‰

  5. I think the sole reason I haven’t ordered anything yet since discovering ModTots is that I can’t decide which is my fave! The Panda and Hippo would be big faves with my 3 yr. old, but so would any of the robots or the furry blue monster! I think my 1 yr. old would like the monsters because they’re so colorful and happy-looking. πŸ™‚ So hard to decide!!!

  6. I love the messy monster. That is what we call my 2 year old nephew πŸ™‚ he is a very messy monster. The monster is really cute!

  7. Would LOVE a dinosaur one! Don’t even need to see one to know that the designs will be awesome! I like Babyrabies on Facebook.

  8. I adore the robots! They would be perfect in my baby boys’ space themed nursery. I’m sure he will love them when he is old enough to πŸ˜‰

  9. I like the animal line. We would probably get the monkey, my son has been making the cutest monkey sounds lately!

  10. I love the robots! They would be a great addition to the big boy room I am planning for my almost 2 year old.

    • The reason for the robots is my son has a new love for robots, space creatures, and Buzz Lightyear. We want to do a space/ robot themed new big boy room when we move to our new house soon πŸ™‚

  11. I like share monster the best, but I think I’d have to know how the dinos turn out before I made up my mind. Um, I mean, this is totally for my kid.

  12. I like you on fb and enjoy your realness about parenting! Makes me feel better that I’m not the only one who needs alone time or starbucks breaks…often.

  13. I like the Evan the Nap Monster because my toddler refuses to take a nap. Maybe a monster can convince her otherwise.

  14. I like the owl the best, but my 19 month old loves the zebra! She loves everything zebra, though. πŸ™‚

  15. Jude the Monkey is my favorite for my 5-month-old monkey Ethan. All of these designs are super cute! I Follow Mod-Tots on twitter.

  16. I LOVE ModTots! If I were to get one, it would probably be one of the monsters (because my kids are in fact, adorable, lovable… monsters). But don’t hold me to it, my favorites change daily (of ModTot art, not of my favorite kid… although now that I think about it…)

    Thanks for the great giveaway!

  17. I really can’t wait for the dinosaurs to come out, but I also like the monsters– William the Messy is so cute.

  18. My favorite is the Messy Monster. He reminds me of what my son looks like when he wakes up in the mornings. πŸ™‚

  19. i am so in love with the robots. my husband collects robots so he is very happy we are expecting a boy who can share in his robot obsession. we put a bunch of quirky robot items on our registry and they were some of the first items to be purchased since everyone knows how much we love ’em. these would go great in the nursery that i’m planning for our june arrival!

  20. Can I pick them all? πŸ™‚ I love the monsters, but the robots are particularly cool. My son is into robots right now, and has robot bedding. He calls them “Bee Bots.” Love it!

  21. I liked you on Facebook (I’m finally “out” with the pregnancy, so all my friends and family won’t scratch their heads now when I like Babyrabies) πŸ™‚

  22. I am obsessed with owls, so of course, the owl is my favorite! Owls are, by far, the coolest animal ever. ?

  23. During my son’s toddler meltdowns I talk and dance like a robot.I become “robot mommy”. He loves it, and the tears and screams turn into laughter. Plus it keeps me from getting upset. If I’m acting like a fool I feel better.

  24. I love the owl and bird prints. My daughter’s nursery has a bird theme and my husband loves owls so either one would be great to own!

  25. love sage the bird. my daughter loves birdies. we sing 5 little ducks all day long, and elmo had 3 ducks, ect. ect

  26. My older son is Ga-Ga over robots!! My younger son has a dinosaur room… I’d be willing to wait unti they weren’t ‘coming soon’!

  27. Well it’s hard to choose just one! My 3 yr old’s nickname since birth is “chicken”… so I love the chick. #2 is due to arrive in august and we’ve been referring to it as “ducky”… so the duckling would be a good choice. Off course there’s the boys fascination with all vthings robot. Hence my blog title “Chasing Bad Robots”. So I’m gonna have a hard time choosing!

  28. My favorite is the giraffe. I love them, and I love the fact that he enjoys a good book about dogs when he wakes up! πŸ™‚

  29. I love the deer. Love. Why? Because I grew up in the country, surrounded by whitetail deer? Or just because it’s darn cute.

  30. I love the owl and mostly its an obession I have at the moment with anything with an “owl theme”

  31. Jenifer Lanning on

Jude the Monkey is my favorite, although I’d like them to add some fish!

  32. Well, obviously my favorite is Evan the Nap Monster, because…it’s mine. But my second favorite is the purple monster, who I would name Caroline!!

  33. I love, love, love these! I’d go for one of the monsters, for sure. My son has hand-painted monsters from a friend of mine on his wall, then monster stuffies and a storage bag from another friend. All unique and fun monsters.

  34. I can’t pick a favorite. I love the monsters and the animals. We lovingly referred to DD as our “Little Monster” while I was pregnant because I was due just after Halloween.
Now we call her little monster or t-bird.

  35. My favorite is Pierce the Giraffe. I think it would be great to have a small jungle in Jack’s new toddler room! Perhaps Jude the Monkey and the nameless Zebra to keep Pierce company?

  36. My favorite (though really, how can you pick just ONE?!) is William the Messy Monster. My son is currently on a Monster kick, and this would go perfectly in his little “boy corner” of the room he will soon be sharing with his little sister!

  37. Love the zebra – I’d get it for the little boy I babysit. Too bad they don’t have lions .. he adores lions πŸ™‚

    Love ModTots though!

  38. Okay, my top three are the Pop-n-Lock robot, Harrison the fox, and the raccoon. But, but, BUT I’m dying to see what the dinosaurs look like!

  39. LOVE the raccoon! I raised a pair in high school & Calloway, especially, loves to look at the photos of them. He’d love this!

  40. My favourites are the fox and the monkey. I call my oldest son Monkey all the time and we are doing his bedroom in a monkey theme. Foxes, I just love because I find them to be very smart yet very beautiful.

  41. LOVE ModTots. Already follow them on Twitter πŸ™‚

So torn between the animals and the monsters. My son would probably love a monster. I kind of want the giraffe – he’s my fave.

  42. I LOVE the robots, especially Jackhammer Robot. My 3 yr old is a huge fan, for some reason he gets a huge kick out of the fact that both his name and “robot” start with R!

  43. LOVE the fox piece. My son’s middle name is Fox, in honor of my mothers side of the family. He is a Mod Monster, this artwork would match our lives perfectly!
