Looks like it won’t be until 2011
And she’s going to be way too big for this by then. (I KNEW I was jinxing myself letting my mom buy this on Tuesday!)
But you know what? I’m okay with that. Actually, I’m happy she’s waiting. Today was absolutely, 110% amazing. It was all about Kendall and he had so. much. fun. It’s the first Christmas he really *got* it, and it was a delight to witness his joy. We have been so incredibly fortunate this year, and I just had to sit back and take it all in more than once. There’s no way I could count all my blessings on all my fingers and toes… maybe if I began to count out strands of hair… maybe.
So I can wait. She knows when she wants to come, and I can be patient. I have just enough patience to get me through to the 31st.
But people, let me tell you, if she is not here by then… things are going to get serious. You may find my husband with his arm up my birth canal at 11:58 pm on New Years Eve just for the tax deduction.
That would make her, like, a week late, though. And I’m already (as of Tuesday) at least 4 cm dilated and 80% effaced. I keep having contractions off and on, lots of cramping, the mucous plug has made many appearances. I mean, it’s just not possible she’ll still be hanging in there a week from now, right???? WHAT IF SHE’S STUCK… OR TANGLED… OR HAS A FOOT CAUGHT IN AN OVARY??
::deep breath::
Excuse me. I need to return to my zen state of patience and acceptance.
Anyway, I hope your holiday was a super duper happy one, so happy you just want to lick a big ol’ lollipop.
Kendall is 2 years, 7 months and I’m 40 weeks and 1 day pregnant

Come on Baby! I’ve got a bag of rocks with your name on it sitting right here! Gorgeous pics by the way.
Thanks, Jen! You always know how to speak to my ute 😉
I’m due Jan 9th and my in-laws bought a ‘Baby’s First Christmas’ ornament. Alas, they will be returning it. I tried to tell them that my babies come out when they are darned good and ready…
Hang in there mama, I’m here with you.

At 40 weeks, I always looked like I wanted to throat punch someone. You? You look fantastic.
You look amazing- I’ve never made it to 40 weeks- but let me tell you- 34? I was looking some rough!
My oldest is Kendalls age and you’re right-this Christmas was perfect!
Now come on baby girl!!!
You are rocking that belly!! So glad you got to focus on your little guy and let it be all about him! Come on baby!
You look amazing!
Glad you guys had such a great holiday. Love the lollipop pic.
Wishing you lots of labor luck. I know how you feel because I was 80% effaced and 4 cm dilated at 38 weeks. I stayed that way until the day I was induced at 41.5 weeks.
Beautiful family picture!
LOL, I like the “hand up my birth canal” comment. It’s funny because it’s true… or at least it would be if we were in that situation. But seriously, you look amazing and what a beautiful Christmas photo! I wish you the best and I hope it doesn’t come down to the 31st!!
You look amazing! Sure your belly is a *little* big…but the rest of you is still teeny 🙂
You look absolutely gorgeous! I’m glad your family had a good Christmas. I’m looking forward to when my daughter will actually *get* Christmas. This year was her first and she’s just a month shy of a year old, so she just sort of crawled over everything, cried at the overstimulation and then crashed for a nap.
You look amazing!! Hoping baby girl makes her appearance soon! I know you’re ready!
I agree, this year was just an amazing one for Christmas. My Ella is just a couple of weeks ahead of Kendall and I got misty I can’t tell you how many times this Christmas season. It’s just so special and wonderful and amazing – all those cliche things about seeing it all again through a child’s eyes. I am so happy for you that you got to do that this year.
And I agree, you look great!
Aww hun, you look gorgeous!! So glad you had a wonderful Christmas. I think she has a plan and she waited on purpose. A nice NYE baby sounds wonderful!!
PS- I was 6cm for 3 weeks. :::ducks::: but I’m 100% positive that that is NOT normal and can only happen to one person this year. So there ya go, it happened to me. You’re good. =)
You look truly amazing! I’m glad you had a good Christmas, and I hope that little girl arrives very soon 🙂
Wow – you look gorgeous! Like, the baby is clearly at term (haha), but you look so teeny and glowing!
I was so hoping by the title of this post that you were introducing a new family member 🙁
Hang in there, and Merry Christmas!
Thank you, everyone, for all the compliments 🙂
You are so close Jill, and we are all on the edge of our seats! May this birth be wonderful for you and baby girl! I believe it is just when you acquiesce to patience that labor actually happens. Good luck!
Yep, with my first I was due Jan 14th but was dilated to a 4 and 80% effaced for a good month before her due date. Doc kept saying, “by Christmas for sure!” then “by New Years for sure!”….aaaand she didn’t come till the middle of January! But of course we know that won’t happen to you!
I had Babies 1 and 2 in Texas. There was a Mexican restaurant off 820 in North Richland Hills- ate there with #2 one night- she was born the next morning. Worth a try???
So can you do a daily “no news, yet” post so we aren’t left wondering about baby?????
LOL. No news yet.
I’d go for the baby born exactly at midnight on Jan. 1st. The first baby of the year usually gets goodies from businesses. 🙂
You look amazing! I can’t believe you’re 40 weeks and still have a skinny neck, you lucky woman! Mine blew up at 25 weeks, I swear. I hope your baby girl makes her appearance soon and doesn’t leave you hanging for too long. I can’t wait to see her!
How do you look that beautiful?
I looked like I swallowed a whale after 35 weeks.
I just have to say that you look amazing for being past your due date and for having such a great attitude. Great way to look at it that you got to experience Christmas with just Kendall one last time. Here’s to hoping for a New Years baby.
Carly
that’s a great picture of the 4 of you 🙂 you look very pretty.
