So I had to go to a certain giant retailer that I particularly despise the day after Halloween. Immediately upon entering I was immersed in Santa’s sweatshop. Christmas music on NOVEMBER 1ST?! WTF?! Why is it that every year Christmas gets shoved down our throats earlier and earlier? Don’t get me wrong, I love Christmas, but not for nearly two months! What ever happened to Thanksgiving, people?! We’ve got to Respect The Turkey.
And it’s not just retailers, there are people putting Christmas lights and decorations up already! I, for one, am sick of the arrival of Christmas creeping closer and close to the end of Summer. Now, unlike most of my posts on here, this one isn’t just for the sole sake of me bitching and complaining. I know there are people out there who feel the same way and I thought this would be a great opportunity to not only have some fun and take a stand, but to help a worthwhile cause while we are at it. Check out www.respecttheturkey.com. We have a ton of great merchandise that will help you keep the Thanksgiving spirit alive, and all the profits will be donated to Feeding America, formerly America’s Second Harvest.
So pass on the word! Tell your friends and family!

I think I went it the same evil store (we call it “Evil Empire” in my house) and heard said Christmas music. This was on November 3! I’ll definitely check out the site!
I agree that every year Christmas gets earlier and earlier. And I believe I was at said retailer yesterday and noticed the giant tree in the entry and music playing. I will have to check out the site for sure!
On another note, I gave you an award on my blog 🙂
Amen sistah-friend.
My neighbors put up and decorated their Christmas tree today…November 9th. Nuts.
My next door neighbor put a giant wreath and Christmas lights up on Friday. I gave him the evil eye as I walked past him to my front door. Even worse…my best friend’s parents put up their Christmas tree in mid-October. Ugh!

I wish I would have known about this site a week ago, I would have ordered the greeting cards to send to all my neighbors who put all their decorations & christmas trees yesterday. Gag!
When I went to a huge retailer even before Halloween they had their Christmas decorations up, and Santa has arrived at our mall!
I was chatting with another mom about how difficult it is to instill the values of giving thanks and the meaning of Thanksgiving with it being totally overshadowed by Christmas.
Thank goodness in our family Christmas doesn’t get brought up and decorated for until after BIL’s birthday in the middle of December!
Love it! Any chance they will make one without the year on it so we can wear them every year? 🙂
