So, I hope you all have noticed how I’ve spiffed up the place. You better have. I’ve busted my ass doing it. I do not claim to be any sort of computer genius, not remotely close. I did take a website design class for my capstone in college, but I was terrible at it then, and I remain pretty terrible now. However, I am nothing if not amazing at teaching myself things when I really want to figure it out and I don’t want to pay someone else to do it for me. So, let that be my sorry excuse for this whole switch over to the new design taking so long. And, no, I’m not done yet. I have plans, BIG PLANS! However, for now, I want to take a minute to point out some of the super cool new features I’ve added and to give you an idea of what I have in mind for the future.
First, I think you will all agree that my cool new custom header is super cute and adorably awesome. That, I have to admit, I did not teach myself to make. Instead, Seventeen Stone was very kind to help me out, and came up with the amazing header, complete with picture of Kendall taken by Mollie at Photography In Bloom.
You will also notice that below the header is a breakdown of categories, making it a little easier to locate older posts (you can also search for them by clicking in the search box in the upper right hand corner of the screen). The newest category is “Cloth Diapers”. I’m really excited about this addition! Since writing my cloth diapering posts, I’ve been able to help out many moms who want to know more about getting started with cloth diapering. I’m inspired to do more. I hope to provide future reviews of cloth diapers and cloth diapering products and keep you all up on what is and isn’t working for us. I also am in the very beginning stages of organizing a cloth diaper blog giveaway so stay tuned!
The Featured Articles will be posts that I want to highlight. Keep in mind that even though a post may remain a “Featured Article” for some time, that doesn’t mean that I haven’t done plenty of other new posts since it. They just may not be “Featured”. For that reason, I have a list of my most recent posts in the left sidebar. Below that is a tag cloud which is lots of fun. Want to know how many times I’ve blogged about pee? Click on it and find out 🙂 Underneath the nifty tag cloud is a list of most recent comments, and below that is a list of Top Commentators, complete with a link to their blog or webpage if they choose to provide it.
The first box in the right sidebar has a few fun options. You can subscribe to my Feedburner feed by entering your email. I promise it won’t be sold or used for spam. The beauty of this is you will be sent an email anytime I make a new post directly to whatever email account you choose. In other words, you don’t have to log into something like Google Reader to get updates. This box is also another way to look up posts by month (archives) or by tag word. The final button, “Popular”, will list my most popular posts at the moment. This takes into account views, links to, comments, and other technical things that I have no real knowledge of.
Think I’m absolutely loony and have a strong desire to share my ramblings with your friends to show that you, in comparison, are not so crazy? Click on the “Share This” button at the bottom of any post. It will allow you to share it via many popular social websites, like Facebook and MySpace, or you can email it directly to them.
That’s most of the big stuff for now. I anticipate everything from here on out, at least for a while, will be minor changes, but I’m open to suggestions if you have any. One thing I’m hoping to do a lot more of in the future is collaborating with other bloggers and, in general, people with more knowledge than me in certain subjects to provide you more content. So…. that’s that. Now I’m off to celebrate my productiveness with a glass of wine and a Tivo-ed episode of Dirty Jobs (mmmm…. Mike Rowe). Hopefully I can get through it all before Kendall wakes up for some midnight boobie.
