This one’s a sponsored post, brought to you by 4Sleep. If you think you’ll ever want to buy a super comfortable memory foam mattress, made in America, for so much less than big-name brands, you’re going to love this.
I had to take a nap today.
It’s been a long time since I felt like that. My energy has been great post Whole 30, as long as I don’t eat sugar before dinner, and I’ve been trying to make myself go to bed before midnight.
But today was just a whole lot of CAN’T from my body. May was just crazy, the last week was SUPER crazy, and today my body was like, NOPE.
The kids were all at school for the first time in 3 weeks, and I settled into bed with a mountain of guilt covering me. It took a while to shut my brain down, but eventually I dozed off.
And then a fly flew in my ear.
Can you imagine how funny it is to be a fly on a wall when another fly disturbs a sleeping human, and that human is just throwing arms into the air, yelling at it like it’s going to come back and apologize?
And then he flew at me again, and again.
Instead of spending precious nap time hunting down that jerk with a fly swatter, I grabbed my pillow and stomped upstairs to our guest room. I’d never slept in there before, and since we just got a new mattress, I should definitely try it out anyway.
As I snuggled under the covers, the guilt lifted because this was actually for work! Yeah, research purposes! Because I’m supposed to blog about this mattress! And so I am. This is what I’m doing right now!
Most. Productive. Nap. Ever.
This is the first time we’ve had a dedicated guest room since before Leyna was born, and while I have so many plans for it (that Scott keeps scoffing at because do we really need a mini fridge and coffee maker in there when there is a kitchen downstairs?), it’s slow-going. Because budgets and time, and boring stuff like that.
But it still needs to be functional for now because we actually do have guests quite frequently.
So I made the huge mistake of buying a cheap mattress from a mattress company because 1. cheap (but, like, still a nice car payment, yo) and 2. they would deliver in 24 hours, and we don’t own a truck. I made this purchase 24 hours before my dad and stepmom came to visit us at the new house for the first time.
Bless their aching backs, that mattress was awful. A guest room is only as good as the bed in it.
Enter this glorious box sent to us from 4Sleep.
Behold! A mattress shipped to our doorstep! No truck required!
It was as exciting as you can imagine.
No seriously, the whole family was fascinated. It came rolled and folded up. But once we cut the plastic off, it just popped open into a fully functional queen size bed.
This 4-layer memory foam beauty, with edge support and temperature control made it’s way up to the guest room. Scott immediately wondered aloud the price of something like this.
When I told him this exact queen mattress is sold for $899, he thought I was joking. That’s only a few hundred more than that cheap mattress we got, and SO MUCH LESS than the memory foam mattress from a high-end brand that be bought a few years ago for our room. SO MUCH LESS.
You guys? It feels exactly the same as our mattress. And that’s to say it feels supportive, and like it will last forever. This is no flimsy, internet cheapie foam mattress. The built-in side-to-side edge support means you can sit on the side of the mattress and not sink to the bottom, which is a pretty common flaw with most inexpensive memory foam mattresses.
And after passing out HARD in it today, I can tell you from a place of authenticity and real research (I took that nap for you, y’all!) that it is sooooo comfy. I will probably do some more research (so many sacrifices for you!) and sneak up there for more naps. Our little secret, okay? I need for the kids to not realize this is a room I visit. Shhhhh!
When people talk about finally investing in a good mattress for themselves, I am always a huge cheerleader of the idea, encouraging them to not feel bad about spending an insane amount of money on one.
But I will not hesitate to encourage them to check out 4Sleep for comfy, sturdy, 100% made in America, memory foam mattresses that are shipped free to your door. (OMG, did I tell you guys we had to pay $80 to have that horrid mattress delivered?) Their prices are phenomenal.
Before I go, how amazing is this wall hanging?
My friend Mandy (formerly of Harper’s Happenings) is opening a fiber art and weaving shop soon, and I’m one of her very first customers! That pretty is going to hang to the right of the window in the guest room, and it’s my starting point for jazzing it up and making it the awesome space it deserves to be.
Stay tuned for a full room decor reveal… in maybe like 8 months or 2 years, or something.
Huge thanks to 4Sleep for the mattress and for collaborating with me on this.
