When I started blogging 6 years ago, I never, ever, ever thought more than a handful of people would read it. And I never intended that handful to include anyone I know “in real life,” like my parents… and the parents of my future kids’ friends.

And yet, I still keep blogging about things like that time I had a cyst that looked like a testicle.Β Awkward.

It’s become something much bigger than I ever imagined, these rambling, run-on sentences that make up over-sharing posts about my every day life as a mother.

This week, I officially hit 20,000 likes on my Facebook page. To me, that’s HUGE. Beyond comprehension, actually. Especially since it took me nearly 5 years just to get to 10,000.

Oh, it’s a silly little thing to get excited about, I guess. But my Facebook community means so much to me. It’s where the majority of my conversations and interactions with readers happen. And, for the most part, it’s a really supportive, funny group of people.

So what I’m saying is, if you’re not already joining in on the conversations there, you should!

And if you are there already? THANK YOU! And this is for you.

Over the last few years, I’ve poured all the extra time I can into my love for photography, and I’ve shared a little of that journey here. No doubt, those of you who have been reading since the beginning have noticed a change in the quality of pictures I share.

One of the great photography-related businesses I’ve gotten to know as a result of this blog is SHUTTERbag, and the lovely Kim behind it here in the US. This is a small company with tremendous customer service. They make all-leather camera bags that are stylish and super functional in addition to being tough. I have two, and have been using a SHUTTERbag since February of this year. They both still look fantastic.

The Cabriolet is my new diaper bag/camera bag. It’s big enough to get my camera in, leaving enough room for a couple diapers, wipes, a light blanket, and a change of baby clothes.

This has been SO helpful when it comes to escaping the house with my kids AND my camera, allowing me to capture moments in places like New Orleans, the baseball field…

  1. Hey, congrats on 20,000K… seriously! …these bags are GORGEOUS! I think my favorite bag is the Heirloom bag… but they are all gorgeous!

  2. I’ve never had the pleasure of using a shutterbag but I adore them! They are so sharp looking and convenient. It would inspire me to take even more pictures toting it around to our adventures. I’m sure my family will appreciate that (lol).

  3. I would absolutely love one of these bags. My husband is the shutterbug in our family but is constantly asking ME to carry his camera (wallet, phone, keys) plus ALL the goodies that go with having 3 kids! These bags are amazing especially the cabriolet!

  4. I’ve been reading since you were pregnant with Kendall and I’m so excited for your success… You’re an amazing writer and have become a great photographer too!

  5. I’ve been dreaming of having a ShutterBag for some time now! It would be absolutely amazing to win one! I love the Safari and Cabriolet. Gorgeous.

  6. I love the Safari bag personally, but it’s one of my best friends I’m trying to win this for and she’s probably a Carbiolet kind of gal. She was there for me from my bridal portraits to my son’s newborn photos. She’s an amazing photographer and friend πŸ™‚

  7. I really like the cabriolet bag. I may have to put it in my Christmas list if I ever get around to making one.

  8. Love this bag. hobbyist photography who has put it on the back burner since having my daughter. you inspire me to get back into it!

  9. I love the Safari bag, it looks so much like a normal handbag on the outside, but has soo many compartments on in the inside! Congratulations on reaching 20,000!

  10. I fell in love with Shutterbag’s when you posted about them months ago and finally got one for my birthday this past May and have used it non stop since.. I looove it! Even got a personal note in my package from the owner, an amazing company!

  11. I love the Safari bag! I am using a very old vinyl bag that my mother in law used about twenty years ago, so it’s time for a new one I think.

  12. I am seriously torn between the design of the Safari or the Girl’s Day out. Both are seriously gorgeous and I love the colour choices.

PS – Did you seriously think your special brand of hilarious awesomeness wouldn’t catch on? Crazy.

  13. My husband and I hate lugging around our big canon bag AND the two bags we need for our 3 year old twins and 8 month old. Loving that I could potentially go down to one bag with the Shutterbag! Thanks for the opportunity πŸ™‚

  14. 20,000!!!! Amazing! And I cant believe its been SIX YEARS! Where has the time gone?

My fave ShutterBag- I think its Girls day out. I wish I was mary poppins and could fit my giant camera and all my stuff into a tiny bag…

  15. I absolutely love your blog! I started reading when I had my first baby in July. I also got my first ‘fancy’ dslr just to capture all the special moments with my new family. I think the heirloom bag would be awesome to have!

  16. actually my favorite bag is the “Girls Day Out” In smoky gray. They are all just GORGEOUS though, that one is just more my style πŸ™‚

  17. I love them all but the Cabriolet seems like the perfect size for baby stuff plus my camera. I never bring my dslr out because I lack a secure, stylish way to transport it. This would solve my problem & help me capture more photos of my kids!

  18. The Heirloom would definitely be my first choice but any of them would be amazing! Would definitely be awesome to have a bag that is in style and fits the gear I need while traveling!

  19. Never heard go Shutterbug but wow is that bag beautiful! Right now our camera is kept in a small fleece pouch I sewed. This would be so uncheck better!

  20. I’ve been drooling over those camera bags for a couple of months now. I want the cabriolet so bad and I hope I win! Love your blog πŸ™‚

  21. I have a 6mo old and I’ve just asked for my first DSLR for Christmas, always used a Nikon cool pix before. Any of these beautiful bags would be incredible to own!

  22. I really need this bag since I broke my last dslr last summer, bought a new body and then broke my lens. I’m not careful enough and just toss it in my bag! no good.

  23. I looked through all the Shutterbags and initially thought my favorite was Girls Day Out simple because it’s green but then I viewed the Heirloom and wow. Just wow. That bag is nice and roomyas well as functional. I especially liked how it can be carried or wore as a backpack.

  24. Actually, my #1 favorite bag is ‘Girls Day Out’ but I know that isn’t part of the giveway. Of the other three, I like both ‘Heirloom’ & ‘Safari’. I can’t choose! πŸ™‚

  25. Jill, i’ve loved this blog since like 2010, you are always funny and always respond kindly. so thank you for having such a great blog. beautiful kids. and most of all, such a great attitude on parenting even at its worst.
i went to their website, and ummm, i do love that heirloom!

  26. I’m not a photographer, so I’m trying to win for my sister! I think she’d like the girls day out one best….or maybe the cabriolet. πŸ™‚

  27. Would love to get a hold of this bag, as i love taking pictures of my little ones. Plus with one on the way, i bet i’ll be needing a bag that fits a camera and everything in it. ^_^

  28. Congrats on the 20k likes!! I truly enjoy your blog. I really like the cabriolet bag, looks like it would be great for camera a baby garb πŸ˜‰

  29. I hadn’t seen these bags before, but I absolutely love a well crafted leather bag. This is now on the top of my Christmas wish list!

  30. Hmmm that is a toughy! I think Cabriolet may be my favorite but I also love Safari AND Girls Day Out. LOL!! Told u it was a toughy!!

  31. I LOVE the heirloom in that caramel brown. It makes my little heart go pitter patter. All that SPACE. I could carry ALL THE THINGS.

  32. I always curse the manufacturer bag I have to lug around when I want to take our nice camera out. I’d love to get a really great looking bag to tote around, and the fact I could fit a few diapers in there is a huge bonus right now, too.

  33. I absolutely love the Safari in blue. I am a momma of all boys and I often don’t carry my Nikon with me because I don’t have a good bag to carry it in so I have a ton of semi-okay iPhoto pics that catch the moment but not the glory of the setting, environment, etc. with a bag like this I would have enough for the things I NEED to carry plus protection and room for my camera. Oh I hope to win this!!

  34. I love the one you featured but also love the heirloom bag as it can be used as a backpack as well!!! With 2 little ones and 2 big ones this would be perfect for me to carry all my camera gear!! **fingers crossed**

  35. I’m sure this would make a better way to carry my camera around than in whatever bag I happen to be using at the moment. More often than not an unpadded diaper bag. *fingers crossed*

  36. I love the Cabriolet bag but they are all gorgeous. I would so love to win one of these great bags. Perfect for my new camera I just got.

  37. My favorites are the heirloom and cabriolet but if I had to pick just one, I would pick the heirloom for it’s ability to be a backpack!!

  38. I LOVE the Cabriolet as well! I love that style of bag. My current purse looks kinda like that but certainly doesn’t have to room to house ALL the things I want to put in there (although my hubby already says that my bag weighs so much I must be smuggling gold bricks!)

  39. I recently stalked Kim at home (ok, she knew I was coming) to check out her bags πŸ™‚ They were ALL amazingly gorgeous and well-made, and I came home with the Heirloom. LOVE it!

  40. I am leaning towards Safari..I think I would need to decide if I wanted to use the bag as a camera bag or also a diaper bag, in which case, I would be really tempted by the Heirloom or Cabriolet. I never win so I don’t want to daydream too much about it and then be heartbroken when I don’t win!

  41. I would love any of the 3 – the bag I have not is NOT pretty at all – would love to be as proud of my camera bag as I am of some of my photos!

  42. I’ve never had a camera bag that doesn’t scream “Camera Bag!!” Love this one! This is way more attractive than my current camera bag!

  43. I would love anything that does scream “Camera Bag” and these bags are awesome. If I had to choose, it would be a toss up between the Cabriolet and the Safari…but actually I would love pretty much any of them. Good luck to all and Thank You for this giveaway!!

  44. Three months ago, I was an idiot and bought a bag from another company. Umm…it’s already falling apart. I should have bought from Shutterbag in the first place! Such a great company. πŸ™‚

  45. I started reading your blog when my son was a baby, he just turned 5. You always have me laughing, so thanks for that!. Also, I would love one of these bags. The Cabriolet looks great. But I also like the Heirloom. Any one of them would be a HUGE upgrade!

  46. Would love to carry my camera and lenses in such a stylish camera bag!! Thank you for this opportunity and congrats on hitting such a big number of fans!! πŸ™‚

  47. The Safari shutter bag is my favorite because everytime I go out with my camera it is just like a safari, an adventure waiting to happen.

  48. Please! Please! Please!Pick me! I love that bag and after a horribly rotten day, winning this will make me feel so much better! Oh and my purse/mini diaper bag broke today after only a week of use.

  49. What beautiful bags. Right now I usually do not bring my camera along because it’s too much to carry with my diaper bag….this would be perfect!

  50. I really like all of the bags. The cabriolet and safari are probably my tied for my favorite though. If I absolutely had to pick, I’d say the Cabriolet because I like the flap on the back of it. Very tough choice!

  51. Congratulations in 20,000! That’s amazing! Love your blog! Makes me laugh all the time! You’re an inspiration! Love the cabriolet bag!

  52. OMG I love the Cabriolet! It looks better to carry than the regular camera bag, my son’s diaper bag, plus my purse! And with the holidays coming up plus visiting my husband’s family out of town, this definitely helps me to stay stylish and not carry so many bags! I started back into my photography and definitely take my dslr camera everywhere

  53. I’m torn between the Safari and the Heirloom – both gorgeous and functional. Congratulations on your FB milestone. Keep up the funny, relevant and authentic writing. Thanks for hosting the giveaway – someone will be very happy!

  54. i got a nice nikon for christmas last year and would love a bag for it! i really love the safari and the heirloom!
