Oh yeah, you read that right.
Give a pregnant girl some summer flavor Bubble Gum Peeps, and this is what she will come up with. I’m pretty proud of myself, actually, because this? Is GOOD.
I had no idea Peeps even have “summer flavors” until they contacted me about doing this sponsored post for them. Being pregnant, and very much a fan of sugar right now, I couldn’t turn them down
We just got an ice cream maker a few weeks ago, and I haven’t had much time to actually use it. This is only the 2nd batch of ice cream we’ve made, and it was SUPER simple.
I didn’t come up with this recipe entirely on my own. After a search for marshmallow ice cream recipes, I found this one from 52 Kitchen Adventures and based mine off of it since, after all, Peeps are marshmallows.
Strange little sugar-coated marshmallows.
2 cups whipping cream
2 cups half & half
7 rows (35) bubble gum Peeps (3.5 packages)
1 pkg. small gum balls
*optional- 2 teaspoons bubble gum extract
First, plop your Peeps into a large pan and add the half and half. Then melt over low-medium heat. Don’t walk away from this! Keep stirring.
Put the melted mixture in the refrigerator to cool off about 30 minutes. Meanwhile, whip your whipping cream until it thickens.
After your Peeps have cooled off, fold the mixture into your whipping cream.
Now, the Peeps do give a subtle bubble gum flavor, and the gum balls will enhance that, but if you want it to taste really bubble-gum-y, you can add 1 or 2 teaspoons of bubble gum extract. It’s a thing! You can get it on Amazon or at baking supply stores… not sure about your supermarket.
I made ours without it, and it tastes plenty bubble-gum-y to me, but I don’t think it would be bad with a little added in.
Pour your mixture into your ice cream maker, and let it churn per your machine’s directions. Ours needed about 30 minutes of churning, and then I poured it into a pan and let it set in the freezer overnight.
Warning: If you’re not quiet enough, your bed-head bedecked toddler will break out of her room and insist on “helping” you. Then she’ll ask for “gubble bum ice cream” for breakfast the next morning, and cry when you give her cereal instead.
Add your gum balls at the very end, giving them just a couple minutes of churning to get incorporated well into the ice cream.

Woah – there’s bubble gum flavored Peeps? And bubble gum flavored extract? And you can make them into ice cream?! I’m really happy you found my marshmallow ice cream and linked back to it, because this is something I will have to try!
Thank YOU for the great, and super EASY recipe! I was so relieved to see how few ingredients there were. Super yummy.
