At the end of the day, our little family of 4 (only 3 of which drink out of glasses) amasses something like 15 dirty glasses. I’ve had enough.
“Use the glass you had earlier!” I nag.
“But I don’t know which one that was,” my husband claims.
Problem solved:
Every time someone gives me one of this cause bracelets I feel bad. It’s not that I don’t want to support the cause, I’m just not a bracelet (especially of the rubber variety) kind of gal. Of course, I hate to throw it in the trash. So I have a few stuffed in our junk drawer, and I got a couple really great ones at Blogher (for The Getty Owl Foundation and Change 3 Things).
They are now our designated cup markers. Scott’s is the blue Getty Owl bracelet, mine is the gray Change 3 Things, and Kendall has a yellow Livestrong bracelet.
This means I’ll have to do, like, 2 less loads of dishes a week now, right? Here’s hoping.

AWESOME idea! I almost thought you’d gotten INCHUBUG labels for yourself and your DH!
This is actually an amazing idea, which I believe I’ll be “borrowing.”
I always use the same glass throughout the day! Great idea with the bracelet for the glasses! Another idea. Take your old toothbrush, put it on boiling water, let it sit for a minute or so, take it out and bend to make a bracelet. Now you dont have to buy anything! 🙂 Of course you can take the Bristles off!
How resourceful!
LOVE IT! If only I could do something like this with our 3 year old’s underwear obsession. I’m pretty sure he goes through 10 undie changes a day!
Yes! Kendall is like that, too.
awesome! can kozies would probably work, too. We have a variety of different shapes of glasses (some from our dishes pattern, some from my husband’s work, etc).. so if he has one shape, I typically take another. For those that use wine glasses or water goblets (especially during family functions), you can easily make your own ‘wine charms’ with a little metal circle (found everywhere for jewelry making) and and a charm. I did this for my mom a few years ago and now at least all the adults know the difference. We would typically give the kids disposable glasses anyway, and use a marker on them, but for adults or smaller family functions, the ‘wine charms’ are awesome!
Good ideas!
That’s a great idea. My mom was a big believer in paper BUT she would still have us rinse them out which annoyed the heck out of me.
Good luck with that. I have been trying to teach my wife how to figure out if the dishes in the dishwasher are clean or dirty for 5 years now to no avail. Old habits die hard.
But I totally hear you on it. There are only two of us, I use the same cup all day, but my wife (in her 8 hours of being home) will use anywhere from 2-4 cups. There’s a water cup (at least one), a milk cup from dinner, a milk cup for her evening Oreo snack and probably one other random one thrown in for fun.
hahahahaha! I love hearing this from a man’s perspective.
Awesome! I am always wondering why there are no clean glasses in our cabinet, and then I find a dozen of them around the house. Trying this today!
Freaking. Brilliant.
My 2 1/2 year old gets one milk sippy cup per day that gets rinsed and refilled after each meal then back in the fridge ready for the next meal. It’s just so obviously his cup…but how to make the same system work for the adults…? I was just scratching my head this morning over this. Problem solved-thanks! On a totally unrelated topic-could you invite me to Pinterest? I can hold out no longer.
Yes! On it now..
…………. that’s actually a really cute idea.
That’s actually a really great idea!
[…] Babies Rabies shares how she uses rubber cause bracelets as glass or cup markers! What a great way to REUSE those bracelets! […]
That’s very clever! 🙂 Thanks!
I seriously might have to steal this one! It beats my idea of breaking enough glasses (totally on accident) so that there is only enough for everyone to have one!
This is hilarious, because I just started doing this today with my kids, but using hair elastics in different colors instead!
