Yesterday, he was born.
Today, he is 3.
Tomorrow, he will be 13, and no longer whisper to me as his eyelids get heavy in the dark of his room, “Mommy, stay. I just want to snuggle with you.”
He won’t ask, “Mommy? Are you a princess?” when he sees me try on a new dress.
He won’t exclaim, “You’re having an Idea Emergency!” when he hears me swear at the stroller that won’t fold so I can shove it back in the car.
Tomorrow he will grow up, finally get to run off with those “fwiends!”
But today, he is 3. And he’s still all mine.

This just made me cry. I don’t know what I’m going to do in 6 weeks when mine turns 3. Probably sob like a little baby. <3
Happy Birthday, Kendall! Beautiful post, Jill!
You quit that. You know I don’t have time to have a kid right now. No tiny pictures of tiny babies and adorable tiny person quotes. Nope. No ma’am.
(But happy birthday, Kendall!!)
Mandy, you remind me so much of my sister in so many ways.
🙂 Hopefully you like your sister.
Wahhhhhhh!!!! Don’t remind me! My mostly sweet baby girl is right behind him.
Happy Birthday Kendall! May the Terrorist Threes be a myth.
Happy Birthday to Kendall!
Mine will be 3 at the end of this month, they are growing up way too fast!
*sniff* I needed this today as my not-quite-3 year old was driving me insane. He won’t be this small forever and I need to remember that. Yes, he drives me nuts with his temper tantrums, but he makes me swoon with his, “You ok, Mommy? You hurt?” when my hugely pregnant self drives over an uncomfortable bump and I say “ouch”. Or when he refers to his stuffed bunny as his “best fwiend”. Okay, my hormonal self is getting all weepy, so I’ll stop now.
Tears, they aren’t babies anymore. I can’t believe C will be three Thursday.
Well, if your kid is anything like mine the 3’s will be ten-fold! UGH My sweet princess turned 3 a month ago and it has been pretty hellish.
Happy Birthday to your big boy! Time sure does fly! I remember you back from the good old days on the Knot & Nest! Look at us now! 🙂
So sweet!
Whaaaaaaa….why do they grow up so dang fast.
so sweet, we have 4 months until 3 for Z, I can’t believe it, Happy Birthday Kendall!!
Wow. I remember your 2nd birthday post. Thought it was just a few months back. Guess I’m in a time warp! He is a rather lovely lad with such sweet things to say!
Happy Birthday Buddy!
Happy 3rd birthday Kendall!
Awww….How sweet! Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday to Kendall! My oldest just turned 3 last week. I told my husband, she was just born, how can she be 3 already!?
Great post Jill! And happy birthday to Kendall. I was reading this earlier as my newly turned 3-year-old boy woke up from his nap and wanted to cuddle on my lap. Can’t they just stay little forever????
Awww …. Happy Birthday, Kendall!!
At the risk of sounding super stalkerish…
…I’ve been following you since The Knot, when I was planning my wedding and was baby obsessed. 🙂 5 years later, I’m still not *quite* ready for kids of my own, but I’ve loved watching your adorable family grow.
Congratulations!
Just beautiful – made me cry.
And today I am crying 🙁 I’ve had a particularly difficult last few days dealing with my own almost 3yro son. You know the days where you lock yourself in your bedroom & tell him he can’t come in because he’s being mean…yeah those days.
But now your post has reminded me of all the things that I’ll miss when this is over & how quickly it really does go. Happy Birthday to Kendall.
Adorable. Happy Birthday kid.
omg tears!
